[TANGO-L] Milonga rhythm

I am encountering leaders who dance milonga with a variety of rhythms, as if it's a tango.  I've looked for specific explainations of the differences between the two dances,  rhythmically speaking, and can't find one at any of the tango sites I visited.  What would be your reaction to leaders that apply the tango concept of total freedom to interpret the music rhythmically, to their milonga?
