I do not feel like this is a matter of anticipation.
If the lead is executed well, the leader will 'send' you into this more
quadratical shape by the impulse of his own turn, by the amount of
dissociation between his legs and the upper body and the steadiness of his
upper body frame whilst doing this. You would sense the opening
shoulder/body half moving away fastly, this would make you feel clearly that
the turn is continuing so you enter into a molinete.. The more intense turn
your leader makes, the more you enter into a 4 step instead a 6 step
circle..
If you also focus on staying in contact with the leader's hand/arm
positioned on your back, maintaining this contact would also be very exact
in telling you where to go next. In fact you should not be thinking much (or
at all..) about the shape on the floor. Depending on the music, the floor
surroundings and the variety of steps your partner can be thinking of your
focus is to remain in front of him 'no matter what'...
Visual contact (watching your partner's upper body/shoulders) helps
estimating what is happening, this you might interpret like anticipation. If
you dance this often enough, you can however sense it eyes closed as well.
Hope I was able to transmit how I see it.. It is difficult to put in words.
Greetings and all the best
Petra
