Re: [TANGO-L] Dancing The Classics

Having had the pleasure of listening and dancing to Los Reyes Del Tango
in BA, I rushed to hear them again when they were out here in Sydney
last year. They played brilliantly again, and I picked up a copy of the
CD in question, La Ventana. However, unlike most others who have
commented here, I was quite disappointed by the recording fidelity. If
not exactly recorded in an echo chamber, the band certainly sounded a
long way from the mikes!

You are far better off getting CDs of D'Arienzo's 1960s stereo
instrumental recordings, namely the D'Arienzo for Export series, the
Tangos Para El Mundo series, and RCA Victor 100 Anos - exactly the same
arrangements and far better fidelity.

Regards,
Geoff

Igor,
The CD I have, was purchased by a friend of mine, when visiting BsAs.
The name of the CD is: "La Ventana" by EPSA music, #17023
 .
Tracks are: "El Internado", "Felicia", "La Morocha", "Loca", "El Huracan",
"La Punalada", "El Rey del Compas", "La Cumparsita", "A Media Luz" & "El Choclo".

They must be using original score sheets, note for note, its the same, but with much
better, more beautiful sound. I see 4 bandoneon players, 3 violinists, 1 bass player &
a pianist on the cover. I've heard audible sighs, at the end of a Los Reyes tanda, by
 very satisfied dancers...
