Hi Domenico
You should check out www.providencetango.com. Ellen, Ben, Robin and Thuy of Providence tango have lots of classes every week in Pawtucket, a few blocks from I-95 exit 28 just north of Providence. They are a very cool crowd-- young, artistic. They have high standards for teaching and see things big; for special workshops they also bring in cutting edge itinerant teachers. My crowd loves dancing with the Providence crowd; they are rock solid leaders with great balance and creativity. It's totally worth the drive from where I live (almost 2 hours) to attend their special events.
Group classes are good value, plus you meet new people you can practice with. Great teachers are often about the same price as mediocre ones, even by the class or the hour, and much better value if you count in results. You are absolutely right to ask around. To maximize returns, you should attend every possible practica following the group class.
You may want to postpone a trip to BsAs until you've decided you really like it and have developed an intermediate skill level. Dancing in a high-pressure scene like that can be pretty brutal on beginning leaders. Plus if you add in the trip and expenses on top of class fees, it's not at all cost-effective unless your learning requirements are very specific.
Good luck
Tine

I live in Covenry, Ri about 30 -45 min west of Providence, RI.
Warwick and Greenish are nearby.
Are there recommended Agentine style Tango instructors in the area
that aren't too costly?
Also may go to Buenos Aires. I see adds for rentals. But my
experience renting long term in Central American and visiting South
America, I had much better rental rates.
Recommendations welcomed.
