"Fusion" isn't anything new or mysterious. It's a
natural evolution of musical language. Some of the
attempts work out well and continue to develop, most
are dead ends and stop.
REAL musicians and dancers are inherently creative.
They will notice something out of the ordinary, and
try to incorporate it into their repertoire.
Beethoven's Third Symphony was scandalously dissonant
for its time. Stravinsky's Rite of Spring caused a
near-riot at its premier. Look at Brahms' Hungarian
Rhapsodies, Vaughan-Williams' use of English folk
songs. Remember the musical world before Rap music?
People have made lots of money with Rap, whether we
like it or not.
If nobody tried anything new, we'd all be dancing to
drums around campfires. As soon as you stop learning,
or quit trying new things, you're dead.
