I'm sure that if the numbers are skewed one way or the other, some women or
men are going to sit out more than others. I did not realize that NY had
such skewed numbers of men vs (pardon the pun) women in their milongas.
I've been to milongas in NYC where the reverse was true and the men sat out
too. I cannot see how a milonga that consistently has a huge disparity of
men and women dancers would stay in business too long. I would think the
women (or men) would just quit going if the chances of dancing were so
small. It would seem that after a while the numbers would stabilize at a
more reasonable level. I don't think my statement is a "TOTAL: LOAD OF
BUNK". If an observer will go to a milonga in Bs As, Amsterdam, Zurich,
Miami and yes, even NYC and find the numbers of men and women relatively
even, he or she will notice:
Lots of poor dancers or one gender + few good dancers of the other = much
sitting by the less desirable ones.
Gender parity to all,
Manuel
