Congratulations to award-winning Bay Area Dancers!

The Peninsula Tango Society would like to share some exciting news with the
Bay Area's tango community by announcing and congratulating four San
Francisco-area dancers on their recent success in the competitions held at
the Verdi Club, and in Los Angeles.

Two of them will be going to Buenos Aires for three weeks, as guests of the
Argentine Government, to represent our strong and active West Coast tango
community!

On February 22nd, at the competition hosted by Victor Meneses at the Verdi
Club, dancers Count Glover and Heather Bryan, and Santiago Steele and Ylva
Wintzell were acclaimed by the judges and selected to represent our area in
the finals competition recently held in Los Angeles.  That
competition was hosted by Jorge and Monica Visconde, and co-sponsored by
the Argentine Consulate, American Airlines, and Ser Travel.

Our Bay Area dancers performed superbly (our correspondent Victor reports),
as Ylva and Santiago were honored with the Argentine-American Tango Award,
granted by the Argentine-American Tango Association (supported by the
Argentine Government), a tribute to their excellent dancing and
interpretation.

The Overall Winners, on points, were San Francisco's own Count Glover and
Heather Bryan.  They will go to Buenos Aires for three weeks, as
fully-sponsored guests of the Argentine government, and also courtesy of
American Airlines.  While there, they will represent our larger West Coast
tango community through study, dance, appearance on TV and radio spots, and
other performances.

Congratulations to these four dancers for their achievements, and for
representing so well this area's tango development and quality to our
friends in the Southland, and, to the tango world of Buenos Aires!
