Tango community growing
Hello list,
Could you share experience of tango community growing up? Especially in a
small countries. How did you begin?
I think, tango lessons, shows can be just an impuls for community birth. But
a real cultural phenomenon begins, when it becomes a mass. Because it needs
a special tango space, special sorroundings, like-minded persons...
Argentine tango came to Lithuania about 3 years ago. Many people had tried
to learn tango. But we didn't have any practice or Milonga. So not a few of
those dancers gave up with tango just because of a practice lack. There is
no purpose to learn something, to improve yourself, if there is no any tango
activity around you, isn't it? Exept of seeing the show, or be dying to get
yourself onto the stage.
And so a few of real tango enthusiasts started to organize Milongas. We
organize it for free, without any payment, just like a party for friends,
like-minded persons. We've had two Milongas and the second one was very
successful. We've got a big resonance! Now we are going to make a web page.
We want people to love this magical art, this way of life.
I believe, everybody can find tango into himself. And it's not about steps,
tecnique. It's about an inner freedom and joy.
How do you atract, help people to FEEL tango, experience a real adventure,
not just make a superficial pose?
PLEASE, SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE OF TANGO COMMUNITY GROWING UP. ANY ADVICES
DESIRABLE!!!
Kind regards,
Lithuanian tango enthusiasts
