Re: Orchesta Tipica Victor mystery

Thank you Andy and Steve for your insights.

My main curiosity about when this group ended their recording was answered
satisfactorily with Andy's note that After Carabelli left, two other folks
directed the group until 1940 (if the El Bandoneon leaflet is to be
trusted...). I've also noticed the mislabeling of valses and milongas as
tangos on other EB albums, but that hasn't bothered me as much as a
completely different CD, as in this case. I'm certainly not trying to give
EB a bad knock, either.

It appears that we have at least two versions of EB85 out there, and
careless labeling to boot, as my CD, jewel case cover, and leaflet all list
different years of recording. So, when attempting to communicate to other
DJs and dancers about the tracks on this album, I won't be able to answer
the question, really. This is too bad, because especially in our growing
community, people ask me often about music they hear me play and I like to
give them a good answer.

This is all a minor point to most people I'm sure, but frustrating to those
of us who enjoy learning about the history of the music. The music on my CD
is very enjoyable and well-recorded so I'll just be happy with that and move
on for now...
