Re: TANGO-L Digest - 14 Feb 2001 to 15 Feb 2001 (#2001-42)

This is one of the practical reasons why people
stay at the edge of the floor (CCW direction),
the right side is the edge of the floor and hence
safe when progressing in the line of dance.
(Never mind the errant boleo that upends a coffee
table or a champagne glass ;-)).)

In a steady-state environment where people move
at approximately the same speed, the knowledge of
who is to your right and when becomes easy. Of, course
the picture can and does change when someone decides
to NOT move at the average speed and either lags or
speeds. I suppose that is one of the less desirable but
exciting aspects of dancing.

(Retrieving my partner's leg out of the way just as someone
is getting in her way feels great the
moment after but let's face it, too many close calls
and one of those is going to nail her.)
