Dear Listmembers,
There will be a four day Tango Music Symposium at California State
University at Northridge (Los Angeles, USA) from Thursday, July 27 through
Sunday, July 30, 2000. Subjects will include the history of Tango (with
live music and demonstrations) and workshops for musicians and those
interested in hands-on performance.
This Symposium should have something for everyone: "The Program is designed
for music students, teachers, composers and performers as well as
aficionados of tango music without a formal music background."
For more information, you may visit the Symposium Website (Click on the

A little personal story - If you are not interested press delete now.
It is amazing how small the world of Argentine Tango can be.

"He showed me the
second address and... it was exactly the same as my second address!! I
timidly asked him: "excuse me, where are you trying to go?" and he said:
"well, I want to go somewhere to dance tango". I screamed "Me too!".
They were going to the same place.
In reference to somebody she had met for the first time in a hotel lobby.
This is what happened to me.
It is a very cold night around Christmas time. I am visiting New York and
decide to go to one of Danel&Maria's milongas.
I am in line to board the Staten Island - Manhattan Ferry. The parking lot
is several blocks away, the wind is blowing, there is snow in the air.
It is necessary to have exact change or a credit card to go through the
turnstile. A young couple in front of me discover with horror, that they
have neither. The boy will have to go back to the car to get change. I think
" It is Christmas, I am always returned any favors I do for others , most of
the time with great benefit". So I let them use my credit card, for what
they were very grateful. As soon as I walked a few steps..., I could not
believe it! there on the floor I found a twenty dollar bill.
The ferry was full, lots of people all over; I was lucky I got to sit by a
pretty girl. It was not long afterwards that we were talking. She was going
to the same milonga! and turned to be a great dancer. As I thought - God
always returns any good action I do greatly increased.
