Hello,
My thanks to all who provided me with both this
link:
http://personales.mundivia.es/mperelli/
Also a warm thanks to those helpful suggestion on how to
invite a lady to dance in Spanish. It is somewhat
intimidating to be in a foreign country and not be able to speak the local language. Your messages will increase my confidence to go to the milongas.
Also: Following my request for information I received
the following rude message from an anonymous email
provider. (I've put a * on the rude words):
Quote:
>Monica here from Tango. F*ck off and don't ask me >stupid questions about argentina or whatever the hell >it is again. I couldn't be arsed listening to your >sh*t. As if I care anyway. I have much better things
>to worry about, I honestly couldn't give a flying f*ck
>Monica
I don't know how a simple request for information was so
offensive. Yet, this person who "dosen't care" and has
"betters things to worry about" took the time to send me
a nasty email from an anonymous email account. I sent a
complaint to the email provider and received this message today in my email:
Quote:
>Thank you for your notification regarding evidence of >unsolicited bulk e-mail (UBE), or spam, by one of our >user's accounts. We at BigMailBox.com run a web-based >email service for domain name
>owners. 'ihateclowns.com' is a registrant of this >service. Based on your information, we have cancelled
>the account of 'monica' from this domain. We have
>also contacted the owner of the domain regarding this
>incident.
I had read messages from list members that the situation
regarding anonymous venomous private emails was bad but
didn't realise that this was the kind of behavior that
was being referred to.
So my thanks again to the polite, friendly and helpful
people on the list. Perhaps I can one day return the
favour.
Best regards,
Jacques.

Particularly when the lady has a knee that is known to dislocate when
pressure is applied from the front, this is a very common medical condition.

Hi Tim,
As Sergio explained these leads are an illusion. The
movements of the woman occur because of the body position of
the man and the way they change their weight and position.
Another key is that whenever there is contact between the
legs during displacements it is almost exclusively done with
the thighs, not with the knees.

Yeah, but they're wimps. ;>.............
and:
>I can appreciate having a strong partner
who can literally snatch me in the middle of my stride into
a different
direction. It is exciting. It is a great ride! For me,
this is the true
tango. I am told it is fun for the man too<
I generally resist the urge to opine but this is an
exception. I think Eis is joking about men who do not like a
hanging, heavy woman being *wimps*. For one thing, it is
totally a matter of preference and not of weakness.
Secondly, it is a matter of dancing tango.
When I first began to dance tango I had a terrible problem
with figuring out how much force to apply to my partner,
where and when !! Imagine that, of course, dancing was
fairly difficult under that premise (for both, my partner
and I). Thank goodness I've learned better. I absolutely
dislike dancing with a *self propelled* lawn mower (or
woman). The essence of tango is the lead and follow, not a
wrestling match. There is no need to "literally snatch [me]
in the middle of my stride" to change direction! All the
leader needs to do is move his body properly to *lead* the
woman to move in the direction he wants. The woman who knows
how to follow is *never* ahead of her partner. She always
waits, even for an infinitesimal moment, for the lead, She
is always in balance and over one foot or the other so she
can sense the *direction* and perform the *motion* as the
leader invites.
I don't think I'm a wimp and none of my dance partners would
think that, but I definitely do not like to dance with a
woman who cannot keep her own balance, sustain her own
weight (however light or heavy she might be) and dances
without following my lead. This does not mean that I cannot
or do not dance either in an open or close embrace. I can
and often do use a variety of embraces in the same dance.
Close when the music demands small, staccato steps and open
when leading turns and displacements. No matter what, I
prefer to dance with women who do not require brute force
and violent leads to dance. Ditto for those who like to hang
on the poor guy who must not only carry their weight but is
limited to dancing a repertory of less than a half dozen
little steps.

Manuel

Subject: ARGENTINE TANGO CHAMPION
IDO WORLD PROFESSIONAL ARGENTINE TANGO CHAMPIONSHIPS, will be held in Miami
on September 9th.
These days we have red a lot about this upcoming event. Questions came
about, Who are the organizers?, who is taking part?, who are the judges?,
etc. We know by now that this event is being organized by people outside the
Argentine Tango Community. Reading their web page some of the names related
to this event are well known members of DANCE VISION; AN ORGANIZATION that
teaches ballroom dancing selling video tapes and CD's and many other items
related to dance.
I also noticed that Chris Morris offers, via Dance Vision CATALOG, two
videos on Argentine Tango. The names of the figures are such as: El OCHO,
ROCK CON GIRO, PASSOS CON LAS CRUCES, BREAK FALLAWAY, LOS ABANICOS, LA
CRUSADA SORPRESA, THE SEPARATION, LA COBRA, ETC.
As you can see the names do not relate to any of the figures by us known or
being taught in ARGENTINE TANGO.
Daniel Trenner also offers his collection though this organization. His
tapes DO RELATE to the figures by us known.
The main marketing tool of this company seems to be - LEARN TO DANCE WITH
THE CHAMPIONS - ; so I would not be surprised if the new WORLD PROFESSIONAL
ARGENTINE TANGO CHAMPION WERE somebody related to this very successful and
efficient company.
Those that had the chance to see the tapes of THE CHAMPIONS, know that most
of them are very good, but others are very bad.
Instructors of other organizations have been selling tapes supposedly on
Argentine Tango, that were on American or International Tango. Big Money is
entering the Argentine Tango floor.
