Subject: Looking for a milonga
Hello List,
I am looking for a milonga from Francisco Canaro called:
Milonga de mis tiempos
If anyone knows, on which CD this can be found, please
tell me. Osvaldo Zotto played this on a milonga workshop
last week end, and I instantly fell in love with the
song.
Thanks in advance,
Garrit

Subject: Getting into milonguero style
JC requested in her message that I elaborate on how I get a
woman to dance milonguero style (close embrace). First, it
doesn't always work. Secondly, I don't want to dance
milonguero style with every woman. Lastly, I can't nor want to
force her.
The woman's comfort level will determine if she wants to dance
milonguero. The best I can do is to invite her to dance
milonguero but only after our first dance. It's dangerous to
assume the woman has the necessary skill level or even desire.
While I'm checking out her comfort and skill levels in our
first dance, she's checking out mine. This can't be rushed.
When I dance with a skilled partner, I let her know it. I'll
mention during the dance "You move well. You're light on your
feet. How long have you been dancing tango?" My goal is to put
my partner at ease. If the chemistry is there, I'll ask her to
dance again "Would you like to try double or nothing?" We
might not go directly into milonguero style but I will dance
closer, causing her left hand to ride higher on my right arm.
It's then her decision to stay in milonguero style or to back
off.
I hope this answers JC's question.
