Hi,
My husband and I are attending a conference in Reno that runs from Wednesday,
June 16th thru Saturday, June 19th. Is there a tango community in Reno? Any
milongas during that time?
Wondering whether to pack dance shoes,

A while back folks were asking about Susana Miller and her close embrace
style. She's in the States now. I understand that she'll be in Philly this
weekend and I know she'll be in New York at Dance Manhattan at the end of
June. She's giving workshops on June 26 & 27. If you're a New Yorker -- or
in town -- you might want to check her workshops out. Call Dance Manhattan
at 212-807-0802 or look for their web site.
DM is also hosting one of my personal favorites -- Pablo Pugliese. Mingo and
Esther's son has the elegance of his parents, and he is a remarkable teacher.
He's so poised and perceptive that I have trouble remembering that he's only
18! Last year when he was in NY I took one private and we worked on posture
and basically being the height I am -- short -- with partners large and
small. By not straining to be taller I'm actually more confortable with the
big guys.
Pablo is going to be in New York for most of the summer but his mother is
only around for a few weeks in June. If you admire very elegant, smooth and
yet dynamic salon Tango the Puglieses are wonderful.

Help needed getting hooked-up to the new RadioTango music. I am sure that
many regular correspondents who use Macs would also appreciate a detailed
explanation for the nearly-computer-illiterate. Is there a way?

Dear Tango friends,
After being on the road since April 20, I'm happy to be home, although it
feels that during these past weeks I was also happy to be home, whether it
was Dallas, Miami, Buenos Aires, New York City, Harriman Heights or=
Providence.
We have some exciting projects for June but before I need to express my most
sincere appreciation to all the people who welcome me and Valorie during our
separate and joint activities. The list would be very long but there are a
few who deserve a public recognition because beyond having been caring and
generous with us, they are the core of an extraordinary group of people who
as role models in their communities, make sharing the love and commitment to
the prmotion and preservation of the Argentine Tango a worthwhile effort and
a rewarding life experience.

NEW SERIES OF CLASSES WITH VALORIE AND ALBERTO at 449 Powell Street, 3rd=
floor.=A0
"Tango barre" (the successful series for women taught by Valorie Hart has
resumed in June on the following Fridays from 7:30 - 9:30 PM:
June 4, June 11, June 25.
All three classes $35 prepaid. $15 drop in.
This is an ongoing session given like a ballet barre class, designed for all
levels of dancers. Material addressed and worked on: balance,
embellishments, stretching, giros, music identification and interpretation,
confidence enhancement, body management. The last fifteen minutes are spent
on questions from the class about any technical or social aspect women
encounter when dancing. This is a good class for those starting out, and an
excellent maintenance program for experienced dancers. The material is
consistent and repetitive in the spirit of a ballet class, crafted to allow
a woman to own her technique and use it to express herself, her body type,
her musicality and to feel the enjoyment of confidence of being able to
respond and dance with any and every man. We have a lot of fun, and the time
slot was created to allow us all to go dancing afterwards. (Valorie Hart)
LEARNING HOW TO DANCE ARGENTINE TANGO THE WAY IT IS DANCED IN BUENOS AIRES,
Group classes with Valorie and Alberto have resumed in June on the
following=A0 Sundays from 5 - 7 PM, just in time to grab a bite to eat and
head on for the 435 Broadway milonga.
June 6, June 13, June 27. $15 per person. $25 per couple.
This is an improvisational ongoing session designed for all levels of
dancers interested in dancing with an authentic Argentine style. Material
addressed and worked on: own the elements needed for true improvisation for
men and women; creating elaborate walks and turns; combining patterns to
create original figures within the constrains of space, rhythm and melody;
execution of leg flicks, hooks, sweeps and displacements for both social and
exhibition dancing; dancing to D'Arienzo, Di Sarli, Troilo and Pugliese
(avoid tango burn out by knowing your music and your options for the
different available styles).

Working on it. I'm researching a couple of MP3 players, trying to
find one that both plays streaming media and can handle playlists.
As a followup to Chris, and as proof to Greg that I'm deadly serious
about these things, I've found two streaming MP3 players for
Macintosh:
Macromedia: Shockwave Player 7.d205 -
http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/
Shockwave 7 Player requires a Power Macintosh (includes iMacs)
running System 7.6.1 or later
Xing: Streamworks Player 3.1b2 -
http://www.xingtech.com/support/downloads/swplayer/
The StreamWorks Player 3.1 for Macintosh requires a PowerPC-based
Macintosh or compatible, MacOS 7.5 or greater, and
OpenTransport 1.2 or greater.
So far, I haven't gotten either of them to work with RadioTango; but
I'll report back after some more tests.
