Very nice music too. Since I have an ISDN line at work the bandwidth is quite adequate. I'm going to try it at home next an see how it works there. I wrote to Greg Lindberg as well thanking him for his fine efforts to give us that music. I encourage those of you who have not tried it yet to please do so and don't forget to give Greg some feedback. http://www.radiotango.com Tango greetings, Manuel www.tango-rio.com

I just wanted to let you know that I received the same message from Greg yesterday about radiotango.com and gave it a try. After wrestling a little bit getting Winamp to play, I must say that this is a lot of fun! It's definitely worth checking out. His site, although sparse, looks elegant (I have a thing for dark red ;-) and works well. Every 30 seconds the playlist is updated so you can see not only the current song, but the 5 previous played as well. I've been playing it most of today, and enjoy it! He has a fairly good mix of about 20 artists (including unusual choices such as Hugo Diaz!) on the playlist. Give it a try! Until FM Tango goes live (we can always hope!) there's something for us to listen to online. He should be commended. Again, the website is http://www.radiotango.com Take care, Chico ************************************************** Check us out at http://www.tangonadamas.com "Tango...the dance of moral death" anon **************************************************

Did you dig Horacio Salgan banging away in Saura's movie TANGO? I went to a sheetmusic store in San Francisco and they had three different books. Two were sort of general schlop/pop mix of american/french and argentine standards. The exception, and the one I bought, was "Los Mejores Tangos De Carlos Gardel" published by Warner Bros. ISBN 1-57623-500-9. I think the catalogue number is PF9602. It contains 15 tunes for piano with lyrics. It is targeted for the latin american market because it is all in spanish, even the biography of Gardel. Check out some music stores in your hispanic neighborhood if your general music store does not carry it. If you haven't listened to Gardel much, get a CD with some early stuff where he is just accompanied by guitar. Its great. He really pushes the tunes with his phrasing and rhythmic singing. Most of the tunes in the book can be found on a Gardel CD called "100 an~os" Capital/EMI Latin published in 1990, # H2-542387. Does anyone out there know a source for arrangements of other tunes by the great argentinian bands available in the US? I need the chord progressions. Would love a book of Salgan tunes.
