Heavens, this is not what I was talking about! With "light like a feather" (which I put into brackets for a good reason) I meant the followers reaction to the lead. (Smooth, immediate...) IMO you can do that better while dancing on your balls. (Not on your toes.) I did not mean a ballroom posture with neither connection with the floor nor with the partner. No overstretched legs, no backbent upper body. Two or three times I was confronted with dedicated ballroom dancers (trying to) dance AT, and the result was in no case a very good one. >Many social dancers outside of Argentina lack density and connection. If there >was one thing I wish North American dancers had a LOT more of, it is >for connection. (Actually, I need the proverbial three wishes so I >can Include include passion and musicality, but those are different >diatribes). Absolutely your opinion (for European dancers as well) - there is nothing more unnerving than dancing with a man who gives you the feeling that he doesn't want to touch you. But dancing not so close doesn't necessarily mean a bad lead - while my experience was that men who dance close normally are good leaders. But please consider that not every woman sees that in the same way. There is a very good dancer in our Tango community who always dances close, with every woman. I like many others think it's great, but there are also some women who refuse to dance with him - they don't like the close embrace. Cheers Sabine

Daniela is one of the greatest dancers, I have a lot of admiration and respect for her, her professionalism, and her skills. I can assure you she can dance beautifully and effortlessly even without a partner. It is up to you now to understand in which part of the couple the problem lies. ;-)) Mirella Massetti

All three specialize in tango music and have much more extensive catalogs of titles than you will typically find U.S. stores. Mark Celaya has a catalog of tango CDs with about 150 titles. To order you may phone him at (800) 600-8644. For a list of titles you may visit his website: <http://home.att.net/~mark-joan-tango>. Daniel Trenner's Bridge to the Tango sells a growing list of tango recordings and is usually quick to fill orders. You can request a catalog directly by phone: (888) 382-6469, or visit the website: <http://www.tangobridge.com/dtango7>. Carlos Groppa has the most extensive list but can be slow to fill orders. You can reach him through his webpage: <http://members.aol.com/tango4you/alltango/catalog.htm>. With best regards, Steve (de Tejas)

Date: Wed, 18 Aug 1999 18:25:52 EDT From: Dario Mendiguren <C21DARI @AOL.COM> Subject: Tango teacher in BA Dear list: I've just come back from BA and I had an opportunity, when I went to dance to "El Viejo Correo" to meet Sara, she was teaching Tango to a group of people there before the Monday's Milonga. I really liked the way she was teaching and the way she was emphasizing on the"apilado" (milonguero) style, that the next Monday I tried myself and it was a great experience (she share with me some "milonguero' style " secrets that make dancers look better and did some 'fine tune" in my style, She also at same time helped a friend of mine on her first Tango class and I could tell you that Sara showed a lot of experience in her teaching skills (after the class she told me that she learned with Miguel Angel Soto for several years) There is only a little problem, if you want to take classes with her, she doesn't speak English so you relay have to at least know the Tango terms well known in "castellano" but she is very pacient and is not very expensive. If you decide to take advantage to learn with her in your next trip to BA call her at her cellular phone number 15 40 238180 and arrange a class with her PS whoever sees her send her my regards Thank you Dario

And Avcilar is located far west on the point written s Istanbul through Trakya. And I and my family are located close to the point mentioned as Uskudar. I think the quake lso effected the Denizli which is located through Aegean part. I do not know if it helps you imagine the location and ever mean stg to you. If you have become a target for some pathetic individual's idea of fun, there are many resources out there to help you. Email, or internet harassment, all know as "cyberstalking" is ILLEGAL. Let me repeat this for those trolls who get their jollies from abusing the membership of the Tango-L List: <<<<CYBERSTALKING IS ILLEGAL, TRACEABLE, AND PROSECUTED.>>>>> I work in the legal profession so I decided to put my research skills to use for something I care a lot about: ar. tango - and anything related to ar. tango. If you have received these harassing emails, save electronic and hard copies for your records if you can. (never, NEVER open attachments however). They will have information about the sender's identity & origins that you may not be aware of. Then check out the informative sites I found regarding this subject. CyberAngles http://www.cyberangels.org/indca11.html The largest internet safety and education program since 1995. They have a super site and a hotline available for advice. Deals with all sorts of Internet abuse. You will especially want to look into this site if you have children who use the internet. Check out concept of "cookie" technology. CyberSpace Law Center. http://cyber.findlaw.com/criminal/cyberstalk.html A great resource and collection of links on internet harassment from Findlaw. The link above deals with cyberstalking & email threats. Washington Post Article http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/frompost/nov98/email01.htm A useful article by Brooke A. Masters in Nov. 1, 1998. Deals specifically with email harassment and its prosecution. Don't forget to send a copy of the offensive message to the administrator of your service provider. For example send to: POSTERMASTER @whatever.com, adding "Please do something about this". Keep records of the administrator's responsiveness, or lack thereof. You will also want to check out your provider's anti-harassment policy and how good they are about enforcing it. The organizations above, and others, do monitor the track records of various providers. Good luck, best wishes and great tangos. It is good advice to save the mail in electronic and hardcopy form. Be sure to save/print the complete headers from the mail. A lot of mail user agents like Netscape, Outlook, etc. do not display complete header information by default. That information is vital to tracking down offenders. I worked as a postmaster for a large company and had to deal with several incidents of email harrassment. Postmasters need that information to contact the postmasters for the originating domain. Also, From: headers are easily forged (spammers do it all the time), but send and receive information is harder to forge. A careless hacker can be traced relatively easily. Happy trails, Greg Olsen > I work in the legal profession so I decided to put my research skills to >use for something I care a lot about: ar. tango - and anything related to ar. >tango. Date: Thu, 19 Aug 1999 00:21:21 EDT From: Cherie Magnus <MACFroggy @AOL.COM> Subject: "The Dance of Life" Hi List-- Just as an antidote to all the heavy stuff on the list lately, here's a lovely observation by Jennifer Avalon from the Electra Buzz list: <<There is nobody who can't dance....we are born with the gift. The question is, how much do we use it? Somewhere along the way we've all had those moments where we've watched from the sidelines wondering, would we look silly on the floor?....but once we've joined in we're amazed at how the rhythm carries us along. It's interesting that while we dance we become totally unaware of who is watching....we are lost in the feeling of movement. In the Dance of Life no one is truly the master....there's always room for improvement. The lessons of life make us better dancers, and we all dream of one day dancing the perfect dance. The Dance has its share of exhilaration, hope, humor, fear and tenderness....truly magic in motion. On the Dance Floor of Life miracles can happen when least expected. While the music plays, and the dancers participate, up above in the balcony the Heavens watch and observe us mere mortals grace the floor. They applaud when one person's joy of The Dance spreads to another ...and another... Let's never forget that we all know how to dance.....>> Abrazos, Cherie Los Angeles http://www.viveladifference.com
