AASP: Milonguero Workshop in Seoul, Korea

Milonguero Workshop in Seoul, Korea
by Eugenia and Chan Park, December 21-29, 2002
http://wbTango.com/Eugenia_Chan.html

Milonguero Workshop will be held in Seoul, Korea between December 21 and December 29. Instructors of the workshop are Eugenia and Chan Park from the Washington, D.C., and their profile is available at their web site, http://wbTango.com/Eugenia_Chan.html.

Eugenia and Chan are known for their unique and elegant style of dancing in close embrace, known as Milonguero style, which has been danced in the crowded clubs of Buenos Aires for decades. As milonguero dancers they simply move together to the rhythm of tango, pausing only to convey their physical and emotional expressions. In their dance, there is no choreography involved, but joy, movement, connection, and creativity.

As instructors, Eugenia and Chan are attentive to students' understanding of the union of movement between the man and the woman, as the man improvises, guiding the dance at each moment, the woman responds to him, not knowing the steps or directions the man will take next. To the end they have developed an unique teaching method based on Tango Zen, which couples Zen meditation principles with Tango Dancing and teaches students to dance with total concentration moment by moment. They also encourage their students to realize and express their true nature through Tango. You can read more about Tango Zen at http://wbTango.com/tangozen
