Date: Sat, 20 May 2000 23:24:48 -0700 From: Alan Hu <ajh @CS.UBC.CA> Subject: NA-W: Los Angeles Classes/Milongas? Hi Folks, I'm heading to LA briefly and was hoping to squeeze some classes and dancing in. I've found Larry de Los Angeles's most excellent listing of places in Southern California (http://home.att.net/~larrydla/), but was hoping for a bit more information. In particular, I'd love to attend Daniela and Armando's Thursday event, but the information on Larry's page disagrees with the information on their www.tangopuro.com website, and I've been unable to contact them by phone or email. Are Thursdays in Culver City or North Hollywood? How advanced is the lesson? Is the crowd friendly? Etc. Are there other events that Larry hasn't listed that I should check out? Also, I have a friend in LA whom I'd like to introduce to tango. Would any place be suitable for taking a total beginner? Obviously, she'll eventually need regular lessons to progress, but I'd like her to have a good initial experience and see tango danced well. Many thanks for any advice! --Alan
