Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2000 21:13:05 -0700 From: "Richard T. Simoni, Sr." <rtssr @BATNET.COM> Subject: NA-W: San Francisco Street Milonga Hi everyone, Be advised Dale Meyers and his Strictly Tango band will play Tango music from 1PM to 4PM on this coming Saturday, June 24th, at The Cannery, at Fisherman's Wharf (San Francisco). This is an outside venue in a patio setting. I understand there is a small cafe (coffee house) with outside tables on the patio. There is room to dance. The band will "set-up" on a small stage. Cost is free. One might wear street shoes to dance in as I do not know the floor situation. I assume we will be dancing on tile or some such. This should be a lot of fun. Feel free to come as you are, or in Tango costume, or whatever. There should be visitors, shoppers, and various lay people watching the scene. Best Richard

For those of you that haven't yet experienced the joy, style, and clarity of thought that Metin brings to the tango, I hope you'll take the time to read all the glowing comments posted by his students on Tango-L (the international tango listserv). You can find an archive of comments at http://www.bailatango.com/commentsonly.htm. We're fortunate enough to have this brilliant instructor with us for 4 days, and we won't be snowed out like in January! (Tornados are another matter...) We're also hosting a special Wine and Tango event at the West End Wine Bar in Chapel Hill for July 2! The workshops will wrap up by 2 that Sunday, so you'll have time to rest, but not get tired before joining Metin and me at the West End Wine Bar from 4:30pm-7pm. We'll likely be in the front, dancing on tile (maybe the rooftop patio, in the unlikely event that the weather is comfortable that day). In addition, there will be NO cover charge. I will strongly encourage you however to have a glass of wine or two, enjoy the cheese and appetizer plates, and tip the bartenders for your water. Please contact me for more information or to register.
