(was "Tango with Amira Campora in Umbria, Italy") Dear Ligia and List, >How about posting a "tango calendar" for the whole >world on an ongoing basis, where people can post their >events (I am only talking about major events)in >advance so that those who want to participate can make >advance arrangements?? This is exactly what I am working at at the moment. However it is not a mailing list like TANGO-A, because you know what it is like: On a mailing list the information is passed when you don=B4t know that you need it, and when you realize you need it you also realize you deleted it long time ago... So instead I think a user maintained data base like TangoEnGira would be more convenient for all. Event organizers can advertise their events in different categories like Festival, Show, Course, Workshop etc. Users would be able to search using different criteria like Country, Date, Category of Event etc. Like TangoEnGira it would be strictly non-commercial (yes, on the Internet there is such a thing as free lunch, though some cynics dont believe that :-)) I know that folks like Garrit does a tremendous job of keeping track of ongoing tango events and updateing their web pages, but it seems that the number of tango events is growing rapidly, so it becomes more and more difficult to keep onself updated by scanning the increasing number of tango web pages. What do you say? What is YOUR wish list for such an Tango Event Database? Have a look at TangoEnGira to get an idea of how it might work: http://tangokites.org/tangoengira/ Andreas kite pLayman and Tanguero andreas @tangoKites.org
