BELOW IS A TENTATIVE SCHEDULE FOR THE FIESTA DE TANGO EVENT
Thu. 9PM to Midnight Welcome Milonga and Check-in
Fri. to Sun. 10AM to 5PM 3 levels of Tango Classes in 3 Ballrooms with=20
Open Dancing in between all classes
Fri. to Sun. 9PM to 1AM Milonga=20
(Banquet on Sun. will start at 8pm)
Mon. 11AM to 4PM "Texas Tango" Brunch; Food, drink, dancing
The Workshops have 3 levels of instruction; Beginner, Intermediate, and,=20
Advanced. All the teachers will rotate and give their expertise in each=20
level. All levels will emphasize increasing your variety and improving your=
=20
leading & following skills. Although the class levels are set, the teachers=
=20
will determine the content of the classes. That is why there are no specifi=
c=20
titles for the classes. The instructors will be alternating their teaching=20
times, and they will determine what is taught & who teaches it. Rest=20
assured, the material will be fun, fabulous and definitely will improve your=
=20
Tango. Also, we will spend time working on Vals & Milonga. But again, the=20
teachers will be balancing the material with technique & proper Tango=20
structure.
Consider using this guide to help you determine what level of classes you=20
should sign up for. This is just a guide. Call if you have any questions.
Register for the Beginner classes if:
You are new to the dance and have not had any lessons before; you have only=20
1-6 months experience at the dance; you danced awhile but you are still=20
mesmerized by ochos, salidas, paradas, etc.; you find yourself doing the sam=
e=20
moves all the time.
Register for the Intermediate classes if:
You don't feel like a Beginner anymore; you can lead or follow comfortably=20
and have a nice vocabulary of tango that allows you to be somewhat flexible=
=20
on the dance floor, yet, you aren't quite improvisational.
Register for the Advanced classes if:
Others have told you are good.; you are progressive in your ideas of Tango;=20
you know a lot, yet you realized how much more there is to learn; your Tango=
=20
has matured; you contribute to the art of Tango; you understand the=20
connection to the music and your partner is what matters most; improvisation=
=20
is the name of your dance.
We've assembled a top-notch cast of instructors. Not only will you learn=20
from them, but they are wonderful people & you will love interacting with=20
them.
About the Argentine Tango Instructors
Diego and Carolina have reached a prominent place in the world of Tango. At=
=20
the age of 22, they became the youngest tango dancers in the history of=20
BROADWAY as original cast members of the show FOREVER TANGO. The show=20
triumphed on BROADWAY in June 1997 and maintained this competitive position=20
for a period of fourteen months. They were nominated for a TONY award for=20
"BEST CHOREOGRAPHY". Diego began to dance at the age of four. Tango Master=
s=20
CHUCARO and JUAN CARLOS COPES, allowing him to develop great sensitivity and=
=20
creativity, which, together with his dedication and talent, gave him=20
undoubted potential, guided his growth.
Carolina as an adolescent received a scholarship from Juan Carlos Copes to=20
dance, along with other young artists and ROBERT DUVAL, in the documentary=20
TANGO!, produced by NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC. In 1991, she was invited to join=20
the NATIONAL FOLKLORIC BALLET OF ARGENTINA. More recently Diego & Carolina=20
have participated in the PBS show "TANGO MAGIC" as principal dancers and=20
choreographers. Diego and Carolina transform sentiments into movement . . .=
=20
the search without end. Their absolutely unique and authentic style reflect=
s=20
the way of life of a young couple, who found, in the TANGO, the art form of=20
infinite expression.
Pablo Pugliese, along with his mother, Esther, has taught all over the world=
.=20
The Pugliese family of Tango dancers is revered in the Tango world. Their=20
ability to impart information that makes learning to dance Tango easy, is=20
unparalleled. The Puglieses run one of the most highly acclaimed Tango Danc=
e=20
Academies in Buenos Aires. All of the top Tango teachers & dancers have gon=
e=20
through training with the Puglieses. It is so exciting to have Pablo back=20

Fabian Salas is a multitalented tango teacher, dancer, and choreographer.=20
Fabi=E1n was a member of the original cast (1994-1995) of the award-winning=20
(Best Musical) argentine tango show "Got=E1n", and also performed in the sta=
ge=20
show "El Patio de la Morocha" (1993-1994) at the "Teatro Municipal General=20
San Martin" in Buenos Aires. In 1996, Fabi=E1n took part in the filming of t=
he=20
motion picture "EVITA", and in 1997 he became one of the three principal=20
dancers in the award-winning "The Tango Lesson". Tireless researcher and=20
maestro, remarkable dancer and connoisseur of the secrets of tango - Fabi=
=E1n=20
Salas has brought light to old beliefs and opened new ways in the conception=
=20
of the dance, creating an unmistakable style of dancing the Tango. He is the=
=20
vertebral column of the COSMOTANGO=AE. Tango lovers around the world acclaim=
=20
him as a teacher and performer.=20
The Austin Fiesta de Tango Goals
We wanted an event that would allow the Tango Aficionado to immerse=20
themselves in the wonderful world of Argentine Tango.
To do this we needed several things. We needed an awesome staff. We=20
accomplished that with Fabian, Cynthia, Pablo, Diego & Carolina. We needed=20=
a=20
great venue that would allow us to host everyone in one place and allow=20
several rooms of instruction concurrently. As you will see, the Red Lion=20
Hotel succeeds in this area. We wanted lots of opportunities to practice an=
d=20
just dance. We have scheduled 5 Milongas and open dance practice time in=20
between all the classes. We wanted the Beginners, Intermediate, and Advance=
d=20
Tango dancers to feel they each had a room to learn in and not feel like the=
y=20
were in the wrong class. Our 3 sets of instructors teaching in 3 large=20
ballrooms allows us this. We wanted lots of people to attend, yet we wanted=
=20
a limited enrollment. We will limit enrollment! We wanted you to see some=20
of the greatest dancers of Tango. The instructors will be putting on an=20
awesome show. You too will be part of the show by dancing every night and=20
having a great time (Tango dancers love to watch other Tango dancers.) We=20
wanted everyone to be comfortable. We are providing refreshments in between=
=20
the classes at no additional cost. We wanted you to come. Hopefully, we=20
have provided what you want, and you will. We wanted to let the Tango world=
=20
know about Austin and it's Tango community. Come see us and enjoy the=20
people, the hospitality and this absolutely wonderful Texas city.

In your list of events you did not mentionned the Tango Cruise in Turkey and the
Greek Islands (cruise, workshops and milongas) organized by Baila Tango. The
program of event is really very tempting.

I was at the Tango a la Turca last week end in New York city and had an amazing
time: great atmosphere, great dancers a lot of fun... Many events were going on
at the same time in NYC but in my opinion the tango a la truca was a great
success... with belly dancing and great shows.

Friday, Maiolo's Milonga - Saturday, Polish/American Club, Randy's Milonga
- Sunday, Hallandale Cultural Center Milonga
Fabian Salas will hold workshops for three days as stated above. Friday he
will be at Roberto Maiolo's Milonga at 270 Catalonia at The Knights of
Columbus in Coral Gables, from 7:00 pm. to 8:30 pm. The cost is $15.00 for
the workshop and $10 for the Milonga. Info. Tel. (954) 986-0261.
Saturday, the workshop will be at the Polish/American Club, 1250 N.W. 22nd
Ave. in Miami, the time is from 7:00 pm. to 8:30 pm. There will be a nice
"Chicken Imperial" Caesar Salad dinner, complimentary for those who attend
the Saturday workshop and stay for Randy and Lydia's Milonga. The price is
$15 for the workshop and $10 for the Milonga. Info. Tel. (305) 274-2705.
Sunday, Fabian will be at the Hallandale Cultural Center for an afternoon
workshop from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The workshop is $15.00. The evening
