Subject: NA-E: Boston 17-19 Jun: Weekend workshops "El Pulpo" and Luiza + NEW
YORK TANGO TRIO for 2 nights
The Tango Society of Boston's Third Anniversary celebration in June,
featuring:
1. June workshops with NORBERTO "EL PULPO" ESBREZ & LUIZA PAES, June
17-19 (Sat & Sun, plus Monday evening), with their fascinating style of
ganchos, sacadas and enganches.
2. TWO CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS of "La Milonga" featuring the NEW YORK TANGO
TRIO (considered the top Tango orchestra in the U.S.) on BOTH nights!
Featuring RED AND WHITE ARGENTINE WINES courtesy of our co-sponsor
Trapiche--The leading wines of Argentina.
3. TANGO BY MOONLIGHT. Our favourite outdoor event resumes -- dancing by
the light of the full moon on a bridge over the Charles River. Thursday
night, June 15 (see
http://www.bostontango.org/special-events/moonlight/index.html for
details).
We welcome those travelling from out of town for this special event (and
June is a great time of year in Boston). Prices as low as $110 for the
entire weekend (13 hours of instruction and both Milongas), plus $10
annual membership for non-members. Or make a week of it--there are
various other Tango events nightly from Wed, 14 June through Mon, 19
June that week. Check out http://www.bostontango.org/misc/hotels.html
for hotel information and maps and check out the Boston Tango
Calendar(tm) at http://www.bostontango.org/ for a complete event
calendar.
Also mark your calendars for these future events:
- July workshops with GUILLERMO MERLO and FERNANDI GHI, July 15-17 (two
nights of Milongas with TRIO PANTANGO from Argentina!)
- August workshops with CARLOS GAVITO and MARCELA DURAN from Forever
Tango, August 19-20.

DETAILS ON EL PULPO & LUIZA WORKSHOPS + NEW YORK TANGO TRIO (JUNE 17-19,
2000)
Norberto Esbrez has 12 years of professional experience as a dancer,
tango teacher and choreographer. He has learned from Rodolfo Dinzel and
worked for the most important theaters and show-places in Buenos Aires,
such as Teatro San Martin, Cafe Tortoni and many others. Norberto is the
third generation of tangueros in his family. He carries eighty years of
tango tradition and history: His grandfather and father were both
bandoneon players. For more than a decade Norberto devoted himself to
Tango and deeply researched and developed a very personal technique and
style. Complex but continuous and smooth sequences of ganchos, sacadas
and enganches are totally improvised. In the milongas in Buenos Aires he
is known as "El Pulpo": the octopus.
Luiza Paes began to study and dance tango with El Pulpo almost 3 years
ago. She started working as El Pulpo's assistant at his classes in his
studio now teaches with El Pulpo in all his international tours and
congresses.
Norberto & Luiza have toured and taught tango in the United States,
France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Brasil and, of course, Argentina. In
March of this year they taught at the prestigious CITA-2000
(International Congress of Argentine Tango) festival in Buenos Aires.
The NEW YORK TANGO TRIO, featuring Raul Jaurena on the bandoneon, is
considered the top Tango Trio in North America. They are much sought
after by organizers of major Tango events, since they are one of few
Tango orchestras who play so well for dancers. They have played twice in
Boston for the Tango Society, most recently in April 2000 and always
receive a well-deserved standing ovation by dancers.

Subject: MISC: Help with Contacts
Dear List and darling shoe customers,
I'm having some shoe flyers printed (finally) and need some help with
useful addresses to send them out to. Many of you have offered
suggestions in the past as to where to send them but I feel there may be
more possibilities around the country. Can any of you share names and
addresses of places that might be willing to put them out on display? I
am imagining there must be dance schools around the country that
specialize in Argentine Tango, but I don't have a clue which ones they
are.
Can anyone help? Also, many of you have requested that I send a bundle
of flyers out so you can give them to friends. I would love to hear from
you again with addresses.
Thanks in advance.
