Argentine Tango with Omar Vega
Back by popular demand, Omar Vega will be in Boston for the month of
February2000. Start the New Millennium taking classes and dancing with one
of thebest Argentinean Tango teacher today.
Omar Vega is famous for his highly syncopated style of dancing and for his
mastery of the Milonga. He is theatrical, passionate and powerful. Omar
isoneof the most creative and skillful dancers from the first generation of
theTango Revival which began in the mid-1980s. His rhythmic dancing is rich
andcomplicated and quite unlike anything the other master teachers have to
offer.
We are fortunate to have Omar Vega for an extended series of classes for the
month of February 2000. He will teach a class for beginning/intermediate
and another for advanced dancers. These classes will be limited to 15
couples (30 people). While a partner is not necessary, the classes will
begender-balanced. The same people will go through the entire course and no
one will be allowed to join once the course has started. The material is
challenging and progressive, so it will be difficult to jump into the middle
of a series.
The Classes
Beginners/Intermediate dancers:
Assumes familiarity with the basics of tango/milonga such as connection,
lead-follow, crossed and parallel walking.
Wednesdays, February 2-23, 2000 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The cost is $113
perperson if you pre-register. The price at the door will be $130.00 per
person.
Advanced dancers: ***Please note change from previous schedule

should know Milonga, be smooth with the turn and comfortable with
closeembrace tango.
Thursdays, February 3-24, 2000 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The cost is $113
per person if you pre-register. The price at the door will be $130.00 per
person. (This day might change to Tuesdays, depending on Omar's schedule).
Please note that this class is now once per week. It is a change from the
previous schedule.
Pre-registration is mandatory and must be received by January 21, 2000 with
half the amount due. The rest must be paid in full at the first
class.Deposit or other monies are not refundable if you are unable to

Subject: NA-E: Tango in Israel & Egypt (Help!)
Hi Listers,
I seem to recall seeing something about a milonga in Isreal, but somehow
I've lost the posting.
Can someone please help me?
I plan to be in Jerusalem in June 2000. I'll Probably be there around the
20th. I would like to get detailed info on any events surrounding Tango.
I'd also like to know about Cairo, which I believe is about 250 miles away.
That is a guesstimate. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I look forward to getting any info you can provide.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Subject: SA: a milonga recommendation in Buenos Aires
There is a new Wednesday afternoon milonga in Salon Canning which began in
early December (after Italia Unita closed). It is well-attended because it
has air-conditioning (it's summer here), the best wood floor in BsAs.,
excellent music by Federico, and the best milongueros. This is the one
milonga of the week I never miss. Although the hours are 3:00-11:00, it
doesn't really get going until after 5:00. It is in full swing from
6:00-9:00pm.
Salon Canning is located at Av. Scalabrini Ortiz 1331 (three blocks from
Cordoba). Beto will greet you at the door with a big smile.

Subject: NA-W: San Francisco: Feb 9 - Feb14 ??
Hi, A-list:
I'll be in San Francisco Wed, Feb 9 to Mon, Feb 14.
The what's-going-on-information for the tango scene in SFO seems to be in
many fragments...
Can anyone direct me to a site as comprehensive for SFO as, say, Richard
Lipkin's site is for NYC? Or perhaps people might e-mail info directly to
me?
Thanks in advance--

Subject: NA-E:Tango house in Miami
Hello Listers,
I am planning an extended trip to Bs As Beginning in the first few days of
March. I'll be there for the better part of the month.
I of course will be there for Cosmo Tango 2000. I can't wait.
I've already rented an apartment in BsAs. As a result, my house in Miami is
available to any tangueros that plan to be here at that time.
The house has great spaces for practicing tango.
The house will also be available in June, when I'll be tangoing in Israel
and hopefully Egypt.
If anyone is interested, please inquire directly to my e-mail address.
Happy new year to all of you out there and enjoy your dancing.
Sincerely,
Lily Ader
