Weekend Tango workshops Aug 19-20 with Gavito & Marcela of Forever Tango
Carlos Gavito is one of the few tangueros in the world who need little
introduction. He is an internationally famous star of Forever Tango,
which has played in theatres in almost every major city in the world. He
is one of the few teachers from the milonguero generation of Tango
dancers.
Although Gavito has taught in Boston before, this is the first time he
is doing so with his partner Marcela Duran. Marcela is also one of the
leading dancers of Forever Tango. She has toured with Tango companies
(including Forever Tango) in Japan, Europe and North America, for over 5
years, and has performed at the prestigious Teatro Colon and Teatro San
Martin in Buenos Aires. (Women and men
alike should not miss her women's technique class!)

sensuality, posture, musicality will be developed throughout the weekend
(open to all, including beginners)
2:15 - 3:15 pm: T2: Intermediate Tango I (open to all--beginners with
T1)
3:45 - 4:45 pm: T3: Intermediate Tango II. (Advanced
Beginners/Intermediate and up)
5:00 - 6:00 pm: T4: Milonga. Intro to the Milonga + new material for
those familiar with Milonga. (Advanced Beginners/Intermediate and up)
8:30 pm - 12:30 am: LA MILONGA featuring showcase by Gavito and
Marcela. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments served.

We are sorry, but private lessons will not be available this time owing
to their short stay.
OTHER INFORMATION
The VFW Mt. Auburn Post is air-conditioned and spacious. Classes are not
expected to sell out. No partner is necessary--there will be partner
changes. Wear leather-soled shoes comfortable for dancing. Light snacks
will be provided during workshop breaks. Dress is casual for the
workshops. However, "La Milonga" is a more formal dance and appropriate
attire is requested. You are strongly encouraged to take workshops
progressively to get the most out of the weekend.

Subject: NA-W: Agustina & Claudio in El Cerrito, CA in September.
Agustina Videla and Claudio Asprea are coming to The Danceasy in
September.
Agustina and Claudio have been dance partners since 1997. They
were invited to perform at the "Megaexposicion Tango" organized at the
Palais de Glace in September, 1997, and at the First International Tango
Fair at the Recoleta Cultural Center in Buenos Aires. Their version of
tango "Gallo Ciego" and others were recorded and aired on the Argentine
TV channel Solo Tango, and they appeared several times on the Tango 2000
weekly show on ATC, a widely aired Argentine TV channel.
Agustina and Claudio took part in the fourth Tango Summit in Portugal,
and from May to October, 1998 they performed at the Tango Argentino
show, officially representing the Republic of Argentina. They have
toured Europe several times, teaching and performing. This will be
their third trip to the U.S. to perform and teach, and The Danceasy is
proud to have them here to teach the advanced classes on September 2nd
and 16th, and a special workshop on Sunday the 17th.

El Indio & Mariana , as well as Steve and I would like to thank
tangueros and tangueras for the wonderful response to the classes and
workshops given by El Indio & Mariana Fresno, during their stay in the
San Francisco Bay Area.
There have been some changes in the Golden Gate Milonga. Roberto Riobo
is no longer associated with the Golden Gate Milonga. We have also
changed the class schedule; starting August 16 there will be only one
class from 7:30 to 8:30. Milonga from 8:30 to 12:00 AM. Glen Corteza,
our DJ, will also be teaching the class. We will continue to have guest
instructors once a month.
For the month of August the guest instructors will be Nestor and
Patricia Ray who will teach on August 23. Patricia and Nestor will teach
the Milonguero (close embrace) style. He is described as "the
milonguero's milonguero".
