He is an internationally famous star of Forever Tango, which has played in theatres in almost every major city in the world. He is one of the few teachers from the milonguero generation of Tango dancers. Although Gavito has taught in Boston before, this is the first time he is doing so with his partner Marcela Duran. Marcela is also one of the leading dancers of Forever Tango. She has toured with Tango companies (including Forever Tango) in Japan, Europe and North America, for over 5 years, and has performed at the prestigious Teatro Colon and Teatro San Martin in Buenos Aires. (Advanced Beginners/Intermediate and up) 5:00 - 6:00 pm: T4: Milonga. Intro to the Milonga + new material for those familiar with Milonga. Agustina Videla and Claudio Asprea are coming to The Danceasy in September. Agustina and Claudio have been dance partners since 1997. They were invited to perform at the "Megaexposicion Tango" organized at the Palais de Glace in September, 1997, and at the First International Tango Fair at the Recoleta Cultural Center in Buenos Aires. Their version of tango "Gallo Ciego" and others were recorded and aired on the Argentine TV channel Solo Tango, and they appeared several times on the Tango 2000 weekly show on ATC, a widely aired Argentine TV channel. Agustina and Claudio took part in the fourth Tango Summit in Portugal, and from May to October, 1998 they performed at the Tango Argentino show, officially representing the Republic of Argentina. They have toured Europe several times, teaching and performing. This will be their third trip to the U.S. to perform and teach, and The Danceasy is proud to have them here to teach the advanced classes on September 2nd and 16th, and a special workshop on Sunday the 17th. There have been some changes in the Golden Gate Milonga. Roberto Riobo is no longer associated with the Golden Gate Milonga. We have also changed the class schedule; starting August 16 there will be only one class from 7:30 to 8:30. Milonga from 8:30 to 12:00 AM. Glen Corteza, our DJ, will also be teaching the class. We will continue to have guest instructors once a month. For the month of August the guest instructors will be Nestor and Patricia Ray who will teach on August 23. Patricia and Nestor will teach the Milonguero (close embrace) style.
