Date: Wed, 6 Oct 1999 13:59:58 GMT From: Alexis White <alexisltc @HOTMAIL.COM> Subject: NA-W: Fabian Salas Workshops in L.A. Oct. 28-31 "The theory and practice of Tango Nuevo" with Fabian Salas A 4-day Comprehensive Tango Workshop Los Angeles Oct. 28 - Oct. 31, 1999 The anticipated follow-up to 'Chicho & Cecilia's Workshop' In a continuing series of tango courses Fabian Salas together with Gustavo Naveira have changed the way tango is danced and taught. They have brought together a more analytical, and ultimately more intuitive approach, with the improvisational, nature of tango. This fusion has led to a creative and fluid way of dancing. And they have done it without sacrificing any of its spirit, history or feeling. It is therefore, no exaggeration when teachers call them the "teachers to the teachers". Fabian has (with Gustavo) created a "tango think-tank", a study group that has spawned and nurtured some of the most creative and stunning dancers/improvisers today (including Pablo Veron, Chicho, Cecilia, Omar Vega, amongst others). He is also the organizer of the annual International Tango Congress (CITA) in Buenos Aires, arguably the most important gathering of tango teachers in the world. Here you have a great opportunity to study and learn from this master, a dynamic, creative and systematic approach to tango, that could change the way you dance. What some have called "tango nuevo", or "a thinking person's tango". This series of classes with Fabian Salas is the follow-up to the very popular and highly successful workshop with Chicho & Cecilia, another intensive course in a continuing series of master classes bringing you some of the great teachers of Argentina. The 4-day workshop is structured in a progressive way that will take uninitiated and experienced alike, from the structure and fundamentals of the dance, through the more advanced and intricate movements, rhythms, and techniques. These classes are designed to build on the previous class. For the more experienced, there will be special classes designed with them in mind. The 20 hours of focused classes represents an affordable and valuable alternative for those unable to attend the Tango Congress in Bs.As., or other Tango weeks in other parts of the US: come to four fun-filled, challenging days of tango instruction that will make you a better practitioner of this most sensual, and addictive form of personal expression. SCHEDULE, PRICES, TERMS & CONDITIONS Thursday Oct. 28 7-9pm 1. Theory & Foundations 9-11pm 2. Men/WomenTechnique Friday Oct. 29 7-9pm 3. Leading & Following 9-11pm 4. These classes, however fundamental in nature, are recommended for beginner and seasoned dancers alike. - Classes 5 and 6 are special classes on specific topics for the intermediate and advanced student. - Class 7 is a special class devoted to milonga - Classes 8 through 10 are advanced classes on the more intricate nuances and concepts in tango explained in detail by Fabian. - ** Classes 9 and 10 will be restricted by level and will be open to the first 20 men and women that sign up. Signing up as a couple (for 9 and 10) is not necessary but it is recommended. - There will be = hour breaks between classes for refreshments, rest, practice or video taping PRICES: - All classes are $30 - Receive a 10% discount if taking 5 classes or more - All 10 classes are $250. You will be notified after you register - While there will be screening for the level of each student for placement in the correct class, it is the responsibility of each student to honestly evaluate there own level and sign-up accordingly. This will ensure the flow and quality of the classes. Every attempt will be made to ensure gender balance in all the classes. Please contact us if you have questions as to what classes you should be taking. Please, tell us the classes you are interested in, your level of experience, enclose your fee and send to: The L.A.
