Date: Sun, 28 Nov 1999 16:20:41 -0300 From: Janis Kenyon <jantango @FEEDBACK.NET.AR> Subject: SA: Outdoor milonga in Buenos Aires It's summer in Buenos Aires and the milongas are hot at night. One possibility for dancing in cooler conditions is an outdoor milonga. Saturday, November 27 was the opening of La Calesita, a milonga in Centro Recreativo Municipal. It is located on Cdoro. Rivadavia 1350 off Libertador 8000. It is about a half hour drive from the central part of the capital, but well worth the trip if you hire a Remise to get you there. A colectivo would take too long. The evening temperature was cool and perfect for dancing under the stars. I estimate there were 200 people for the opening. Entrada is $5. This is a Saturday night milonga where singles can go with friends to dance. I went with a partner. Make a reservation for a table which is held for you until 11:30pm. The music was excellent. The stone floor could use some repair but was adequate and did not deter dancers. I saw many of the regular dancers I see during the week there. If you are coming to BsAs in the summer months, this milonga is on my list of recommendations. Janis Kenyon Acto II--segunda mano vestidos y zapatos de tango
