This is a wonderful opportunity to work with these teachers who are known for their smooth, creative, and elegant style. Each of their classes address issues of posture, balance and technique for both men and women. Women are, drilled and empowered to acquire their own unique technique and use it to express themselves and their musicality while gaining confidence to be able to respond to and dance with any man. Men are drilled and empowered to find their own balance and rotational axis, to develop a comfortable and elegant posture, and to navigate the dance floor while improvising figures as they dance with any woman. WORKSHOP SCHEDULE 12:30-1:15 (45 minutes) TANGO BARRE for women. Warm up with Valorie. Work on balance, embellishments, stretching, giros, music interpretation. ($12 door, $10 advance) 1:30-3:00 (90 minutes) CLASS -1. To be determined based on interest and group need. Alberto and Valorie teach Argentine Tango Improvisation using left and right hand turns. A system that empowers dancers to interpret the music and create their own patterns rather than dance prescribed steps. ($20 door, $15 advance) 3:30-5:00 (90 minutes) CLASS -2. To be determined. Alberto and Valorie also teach Argentine tango applications for paradas, sweeps, boleos, and ganchos using giros and enrosques. ($20 door, $15 advance) 5:00-7:00 DINNER BREAK 7:00-9:00 (2 hours) SUPERVISED PRACTICA. (Open only to workshop participants) Practice under the watchful and patient eyes of Alberto and= Valorie as you incorporate what you have teamed into your own dance. ($8 door, $5 advance) Please bring beverages and potluck snacks to share during the day. Classes are open to all levels. Pre-registration is strongly suggested. Class size may be limited to achieve gender balance. If there are not enough pre-registrants by Nov. 30, the workshop will be cancelled. -
