I agree with your post, Lauri, though I prefer that
public criticisms also be constructive, not just
stated clearly.  That would further discussion and
debate.

If I have an issue with someone, I try to resolve it
privately first before letting the whole world know.
This gives the other person an opportunity to correct
the issue or explain it.  I could very well be the one
at fault, and it would be presumptious of me to blame
the other person and make the other person look bad.
Since I am not a lemming, just because others may do
something doesn't mean that I should do the same
thing.

That is what I try, anyway, though I might not always
succeed.

It is similar to the rule of being a good leader - a
good leader doesn't assume that he lead a step
perfectly for the woman and it is her fault if she did
not execute what he thought he lead.

I think that should be applied to conversations off
the dance floor, as well.
