Re: [TANGO-L] Tango DJ's

"Also, go very easy on any one style of music that is not very rhythmic,
Pugliese is great, but do not over do it, other orchestras that play in that
style (typically more modern orquestras) are great for listening but not so
good for more than one tanda per night (if that much)."

"The milonga is for social dancing. the people who dance in a
rhythmic, flowing way are doing it best, and doing it right, they are the
ones the DJ should play for. If you see a bunch guys leading boleos, ganchos
and other steps more suited for a show, you are probably not playing "good"
tango music."

Sorry Manuel,

I strongly disagree. An entire night of nothing but "bang-bang-bang"
rhythmic music feels like an internment to me. Pugliese is such SOARING
HEART music, and what about exploring the great emotional range of the likes
of Hugo Diaz or Piazzolla? And who ever said that these musics have to be
danced with limitless boleos and ganchos? How a music is danced totally
depends upon your ability to open to it and really hear it.

Instead of suffering thru the next Pugliese tanda you encounter, try dancing
about a dozen steps for an entire piece (Gavito style). Explore the rich
emotions in that music, what does it make you feel? Connect with the ebb
and flow of energy in your partners body, savor THE MOMENT together. If
that ain't tango, I ain't interested...
