Susana Villarroel is not selling Fatomano's shoes. Susana worked for Fatomano for 25 years, but formed her own business, Artesanal, about three years ago. I have bought shoes from Fatomano in the past, and now buy my shoes from Susana. I find her shoes to be much more comfortable, and she uses a better grade of leather than Fatomano or Flabella. She also has some styles that I have not seen at either of those places. I am now selling her shoes here in the States, and will soon have pictures of several styles on my website, www.apurotango.com. Also, I have been buying shoes in Buenos Aires for the past eight years, and I have never seen the metal plate that was referred to by Sang. --Linda

Her shoes are pretty good - better than most available in BsAs. I had some problems with her sizing and quality control when I bought from her, (in fact the two prettiest pair arrived at my hotel about two sizes smaller than what I had ordered). But, hey, at least they actually got made in time. Her colors are pretty and the shoes are lighter than those from Flabella or Fatomano. They have very thin soles and very little support, but her designs are quite nice. She will make custom shoes in a good variety of colors. Good luck with your venture, Linda. Anyway, could we maybe change the subject now, > please ? I wonder how many readers have been reading their mail > lately feeling a bit bored and deciding to remain silent. For you & Eugenia to ask the rest of us to discuss or not discuss something is out of line. This forum is for all topics relating to tango. Just because one bores you is no reason to try to censor the rest of us. Use the delete key. And maybe introduce something you are interested in. And no matter how long you discuss shoes or whatever I will never, ever ask you to shut up. Larry de Los Angeles http://home.att.net/~larrydla

I checked the facts and found out that for our Labor Day Weekend in Denver, alas, much to my chagrin, and embarassment, we do not, repeat not, have live music. We do, however, have three evenings of excellent deejayed music, plus classes and get-togethers, plus lots of out-of-towners (I'm hosting eight or nine of them - - break out the tents!) For details, please check postings on Tango-A. My mega-apologies to those, who like myself, just love live music. We do have live music so often in Colorado, with two bands, that I made an incorrect assumption. Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 11:48:08 -0700 From: Linda Valentino <LindaValentino @PRODIGY.NET> Subject: Tango Shoes Again, I have to disagree with Robin. I'm not sure when you last bought Susana's shoes, but I bought some as recently as this March. They do not have "very thin soles," in fact, I find the soles to be thicker than those from Flabella, although thinner than those used by Fatomano, which I personally felt were a little too thick As for support, once again, I think in that department they are far better than Flabella or Fatomano. I find that I can dance much longer and more comfortably in Susana's shoes than those from Flabella or Fatomano. Of course, shoes are a very subjective matter. Everyone has their own preferences, and it's really a question of trial and error until you find what is right for you. Several men have contacted me to ask if I will be selling men's shoes. The answer is yes. One of my students who went on my Bs. As. tour this past March stands 6ft 5in. and wears an American size 16. He has to get almost all his street shoes custom-made. He ordered shoes from Susana (she joked that they'd have to use the whole cow for his shoes!) and he was so pleased with the results that he immediately ordered three more pairs. I will try to have all the shoe info up on my website in the next week. --Linda
