Subject: Re: newspaper clipping
I agree with Eduardo here. Often the British press will tend to
sensationalize
things and the press in general seems to treat dance with a tongue in
cheek
manner. It is rare when I have read a press clipping about myself or
anyone
else in dance that is totally complimentary and serious. The good news
is
regardless of the press just the word Tango evokes its own mystique.
The public
reads it and their curiosity is aroused. Their desire to Tango may be
much
closer than it was before.
In view of the events in the White House this year almost anything to do
with
it, the President, or any public official outside the political arena in
the
social forum or venue is going to be fair game. The important thing is
when the
political official, the public patron or guest addresses or participates
in an
event which is so closely knit to a particular culture they do so with
dignity
and respect. The quality will come later with more participation, as it
does
with all of us.
Kind Regards,
Jeff Allen

Subject: Tango show & workshops in Seattle
Five couples from the cast of Forever Tango, the hit Broadway show, and
Tango Passion, an internationally acclaimed Tango show, have collaborated on
a new show called Tangoing. After opening in Los Angeles and San Francisco
to rave reviews last month, they are bringing the show to the Seattle-Tacoma
area. The dates are March 23, 24, 25 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) at
the Broadway Performance Hall in Seattle at 8:00 p.m., and March 26 at 8:00
pm and March 28 at 1:00 and 5:00 pm in Tacoma. Ticket prices range from $15
to $28.
Tickets are on sale in Seattle at La Sirena Rosa (206-682-8338). In Tacoma
call 253-591-5894. For general information, call Michelle Badion at
206-525-5928.
On Saturday the 27th, the cast will be conducting workshops from 12:00 to
4:30 pm on a wide variety of topics, ranging from Tango fantasia to the
mechanics of posture and balance. All classes are at University Heights in
Seattle, at 55th street and University Avenue. This is a rare opportunity to
work closely with ten incredible Tango dancers and teachers. Contact
Michelle Badion for details at 206-525-5928, or see schedule below.

TANGOING goes beyond the familiar staging and traditional styles to reveal a
fresh, young and personal Tango experience. Tangoing immerses the audience
in intimate stories of everyday life.
The first act displays the individual artists' range of talents, not only as
dancers, but also as actors and singers: a dazzling theatrical display
weaving tales of love, passion and loss. Group and solo performances
demonstrate the company's high level of skill, precision and technique
inherent to this dance, to which they add innovative and fluid expressions
of an emerging contemporary Tango.
The second act takes us to the heart of the production: a rehearsal in
progress, before lights, before costume. We are invited to be present for
the creative process, witnessing the artists, both live and through slide
projections, as they reveal their passion for expression through dance.
TANGOING - an entirely new approach to the Tango show!
