"Aristoi" by Walter Jon Williams also has two characters dance an
Argentine tango and discuss the dance, and mufarse, for several
pages. From the description, it would seem that the author has
read up on AT, but probably never danced it.

Try to contact me at the Bauen Hotel. We'll be there Saturday and a friend
from Montevideo will be there. She dances tango there all the time and has a
wonderful instructor, Omar Correa. We had a nice time in Montevideo last
year. The tango scene was very small but growing all the time. Ask for me:

Hello list!
I just returned from Buenos Aires where I went for a weekend to Montevideo to
check out the tango scene. Omar Correa is a fabulous dancer/teacher with a
romantic but small milonga-site brimming with ambiance. Currently there's only
a Friday night milonga.
The trip from BsAs--on the Seacat to Colonia and then 2 hours on the bus to
Montevideo--was fun but long. The best deal is a package available from a
travel agent, which includes the round-trip transportation, a choice of hotel
(I stayed in the Los Angeles at the heart of the city. It was the cheapest,
but super.), 2 meals, and a 3 hour city tour. I strongly recommend making this
side trip, as it's a completely different scene from Buenos Aires.
Have fun!

Hello Tango Friends,
List conversations are great! My appreciation to everyone who contributes.
Thanks also to folks who have e-mailed messages or signed the guestbook after
visiting my new web site. (The site combines experience, word-play, and for
new enthusiasts, gentle hints.)
I have added a page of quotes by some wonderful instructors including Nora
Dinzelbacher, George Guim, Rebecca Schulman, Daniel Trenner, Susana Miller,
and Luciana Valle (mistakenly spelled "Valles" on the page. Ooops, sorry
Luciana. Will correct next revision.)
In response to questions regarding printing material from the site, permission
is granted. All material, other than the quotes, is original and I am honored
by your requests.
Suggestions and comments regarding the page are welcome and appreciated.
Please sign the guestbook or send e-mail.

Amy & Ray of the Latin & Argentine Tango Club of Detroit wholeheartedly concur
with Frank's recommendation of Daniel Lapadula and Laura Brondo. Daniel and
Laura were in Detroit to teach a workshop some time past. Both are superb
teachers and dancers. Everyone who attended came away with important tips
on style and technique.
Daniel has taught numerous workshops in Detroit. He has been a significant
factor in the growth and success of the Latin & Argentine Tango Club of
Detroit. He has performed and taught not only with Laura, but also with
Graciela Calo. He danced many years Armando Calo's Show, "Tango Revue",
with Graciela. Referring back to a prior string of notes on the Calo Family,
Armando is Miguel's brother and Graciela's father. As part of our Fourth
Anniversary Celebration Daniel applied his stage experience and choreographed a
stage show for the Motor City Milongueros. We called it "Buenos Aires in Ann
Arbor". The Show was performed at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
It was a great success.
Plan to attend workshops with Daniel and/or Laura whenever you get the
opportunity.

Hi Friends,
It has been such a pleasure to host Daniel Lapadula and Laura Brondo (from the
Miami area) for workshops here in Minnesota. We had an enthusiastic response
to their classes, and their improvisational performances at our milonga were
just delightful. We all have a deep "tango glow" this morning.
I heartily recommend Daniel and Laura as teachers. Each is insightful,
analytical as needed, creative and inspiring. I personally enjoyed seeing how
their personalities complimented each other in workshops: Daniel with a
magnanimous personality that keeps student's amused and attentive, Laura being
a little more quiet but always keeping Daniel honest with her own reparte'.
;-) ...and very little of it was superfluous - it was done to focus attention
on the important points in the lessons. This couple is pleasure to know and
we look forward to their next visit.
Again, thanks Daniel and Laura!

Hello Everyone!
Don't miss the opportunity to experience the teaching of Gabriela and Diego
Ladeveze's romantic Argentine Tango style. This young Argentine couple is
back for a 6-week stay in the SF Bay Area and will be teaching at the
Danceasy, 9951 San Pablo Ave (upstairs), El Cerrito, (510) 524-9100, this
Saturday, March 20, from 8-9 PM. The class is followed by the Milonga and
perhaps a demo by Gabriela & Diego.
