However, when I was learning to ski, my instructor had been telling me for weeks not to lean backwards etc...and I thought each time he said it, I had improved my posture and perhaps he was saying it for no good reason...until one day he video taped it and played it back... So, probably it is good to video tape oneself -- no better critic than an unflattering mirror(or video camera). Probably it would be a better idea to video tape the ones own walk also...instead of just the feet and from the view point of the audience rather than looking down. It would also make comparison easier and description what could be a problem more exact. In any case I dont see why one more form of feedback would be harmful(he also said he was taking regular classes). rajan.

Date: Fri, 17 Dec 1999 11:04:26 EST From: Charles Roques <Crrtango @AOL.COM> Subject: Misinterpretation My apologies to all for the last posting with repeated information in it. I thought I had deleted it but had instead mistakenly caused it to scroll down beyond my screen. I didn't see it until sending it and wasn't able to catch it in time. Another tango-related but personal posting and possible cautionary note. I recently heard from a tanguera friend that I was perceived as arrogant because I had posted names of people I had studied with, the amount of time I have been dancing, etc as if I was boasting. The reality is quite different. I felt very-self conscious and was reluctant to speak up about issues on the list because I felt my experience was inadequate. When I decided to post I felt it was important to point out my experience when making statements since I was new to the list so that people would not think I was talking without substance. I accept that my opinions are strong but the intent was never to brag - only to offer credentials. Since most of you know me now it isn't necessary to list my background any more but I just wanted to clear the air. I certainly don't agree with many of the postings but I am glad we have a forum and the amount of diverse postings is evidence of the vitality of our tango world which seems to be growing. This can only be beneficial to all of us. Cheers, Charles
