YES FOLKS, Daniel Trenner, Luciana Valle, and, Marcelo y Yanina, in Austin.
We are doing it again. Our inaugural Fandango de Tango last year was an
absolute blast. People are still saying wonderful things about it. We've
created a special opportunity to learn from the best!
All four of our wonderful instructors are refined, intuitive, exciting,
and best of all, FUN to learn from. Daniel Trenner is known as the "Johnny
Appleseed" of Argentine Tango. He has helped develop Tango communities all
over the U.S. and Europe. His influence has been felt in Austin as well. He
will be making his third trip here.
Luciana Valle has also developed a marvelous following in the U.S.
Everywhere she goes people are eager for her enthusiasm, energy, and innate
ability to teach you how to Tango. Now, here in Austin for the FIFTH time,
she will light a fire under your feet and get you moving right!
Marcelo y Yanina WOWED US when they came here in March. Many of you took
Ricardo's word when he said they were great, and then they proved they were
beyond great. They teach marvelously, they perform exquisitely, and, they
are such beautiful people. We're very happy they have found time to come to
Austin again.
These 5 days of classes will show you everything from the structure and
development of the Tango, to some of the most intricate and sophisticated
components Tango has to offer. In addition, we have 2 practicas, 3 Milongas,
and lots practice time between classes.
We must emphasize this! We have Beginner classes for brand new folks and
Novice Tango dancers. Daniel Trenner & Luciana Valle, who are EXPERTS at
developing excitement in new Tango dancers, will teach them. Everyone should
plan on attending their classes because not only are they fundamentally
EXCELLENT, but also, their energy, excitement, and knowledge of the history
and development of Tango is unparalleled. These will be lessons not soon
forgotten.
Except for the classes labeled Beginner, the rest of the classes are not
for novice Tango dancers. Although our staff are marvelous teachers of Tango
at any level, we are planning all the classes (except the ones labeled
"Beginner") at an Intermediate/Advanced level. We do want to clarify,
however, that all advanced moves will start off with the fundamental
techniques required to accomplish the movements.
So come out and learn, dance, socialize, and enjoy, the dance called
Tango. (*NOTE: A lot of interest has been developing for these workshops,
SO SIGN UP SOON!) REMEMBER, NO PARTNERS ARE REQUIRED FOR ANY OF OUR EVENTS!
Our fun-filled learning extravaganza includes lots of opportunity to
practice and dance. We will be having some of the best Tango Dance Parties
Friday & Saturday night (Sat. the teachers will be performing!) Don't miss
our Texas Tango Brunch where you can eat, drink dance and enjoy more
performances by our staff.
It has been a wonderful year of Tango at Learn to Dance Austin, and we
are proud to cap it off with such a great event.
Please note our Special "Early Bird" Packages available to you if you
register by November 1st.
Although class times are set, the content of the classes will be determined
by the teachers' expertise. That is why there are no specific titles for the
classes. The teachers will be alternating their teaching times, and they
will determine what is taught & who teaches it. Rest assured, the material
will be fun, fabulous and definitely will improve your Tango.

Subject: NA-W: Oakland, Cal. Tango Concert Outdoors
Thursday, Sept 21, 2000 from 5pm to 6:30 pm at Oakland City Center Plaza
near the circular fountain.
Strictly Tango will be playing a live concert. Dancing is allowed (and
I encourage it).
The setting is open sky. There are two restaurants with about 40
outdoor tables right there, or about another 40 chairs set up for
spectators. It was gorgeous at last week's event.
Surface is glazed tile, a bit slippery. You can even pivot on
rubber-soled shoes.
Lots of parking underneath. Enter on 14th street near Clay or on 12th
street near Clay. Or take BART to 12th Street. Exit at the main area
(near agent booth) and follow the cascading fountain up to street
level. Dancing is right there.
THIS IS A FREE EVENT. Send a thank you note to Mayor Jerry Brown.
