Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 09:05:44 -0400 From: rtara <rtara @MAINE.RR.COM> Subject: MISC: Tango Shoes Dear List - I have been getting so many nice notes from customers that I feel that I just have to share them with the list. Everyone that I quote has sent these comments as unsolicited mail and have all given their permission to use their comments. Robin www.22tangoshoes.com "I bought a pair of your "Cruzadas" at the Reno Tango Labor Day Getaway last weekend. My dance shoes from Buenos Aires were stolen in San Francisco the week before from my car. I have to share with everyone who has been considering buying a pair of your shoes, that they were sooooo comfortable that I wore them that night to perform in and they were GREAT!!! I didn't have to "break" them in! I thought I would never part with my BA shoes but now I am SOLD on Tara shoes!" - S. Moon "your shoes are like finding all the cherry lifesavers at the top of the pack!" - R. Case "I received my shoes a mere two days after ordering them. What a delight to open the beautiful box and put my foot in those dancing marvels." - A. Brierly "I was in San Francisco this long weekend and heard two women comment as I tango-ed past. "I don't know who she is, but she has fabulous shoes." Made me smile. I was a mystery dancer in great shoes. Needless to say I introduced myself and my shoes later." - E. Sutton "The PAVADITAS arrived today and I am so awed by the beauty of this shoe! The shoes, once someone holds one in their hands or sees them on the dance floor, have a way of speaking for themselves. - L. Skipper "You have made a spectacular shoe when a 3.5 heel is more comfortable than a 2.5 heel! When I want to spend 3 hours in class teaching in that shoe, something good has happened." - E. Sutton "The Recuerdo's came in the mail yesterday, just in time for a 3-hour class/practica and another 3 hours of milonga the same night. They felt okay when I tried them on at home, so I decided to wear them to class. Well, six hours later, my feet were fine! For the first time, no bruised bones. Sore feet, yes, but that is to be expected when you prance around on your toes for that many hours. I think I danced better in your shoes, too. The result, of course, is that I want more! Your shoes are wonderful, and I received many compliments on them." - C. Ekker "The Malena's are a dancer's dream! My feet appreciate the comfort, and (my dance partners and) I appreciate the increased ease with which I move across the floor. All of the compliments I receive are also a great plus!" - M. Nam

The registration deadline for their classes was September 10, 2000. Many visitors who came to Denver for the Labor Day weekend asked if the registration could be extended since they just learned about this event, and so the registration deadline was extended to September 18, 2000. Please e-mail me directly if you no longer have the original e-mail with Julio and Corina's schedule. If you are making plans to travel to Denver, there are several people who have extended an invitation to host out of town visitors, so please let me know and I will put you in touch with them. Julio and Corina's private lessons are completely booked and there is currently a waiting list for cancellations. If you would like to be on the list, please let me know. Warm Regards, Nina

Date: Sat, 9 Sep 2000 02:31:01 GMT From: Alexis White <alexisltc @HOTMAIL.COM> Subject: NA-W: "An Evening of Tango In Hollywood", Oct. 14th, 2000 "An Evening of Tango In Hollywood", Saturday, October 14th, 2000 You are cordially invited to a very special night of performances, singing, and dancing to live music at the fabulously elegant art-deco Los Angeles landmark, the Hollywood Athletic Club. The Hollywood Athletic Club recalls the swanky opulence of Hollywood's Golden Age. Tango demands sophisticated, warm, rich, even historic arenas where its complex, emotional undertones can be expressed within a worthy setting. And tango with a live orquestra, in this magnificent high-ceilinged space, may even transport you to, yes, that other legendary place: imagine yourself at a milonga in Buenos Aires. The evening's program includes a stage show with Chicho & Lucia, Fernanda & Guillermo and surprise guest performances. 'Cuarteto Los Angeles' under the direction of Pepe Mota with the special participation of 'Forever Tango's master bandoneonist Coco Trovisono. Recording artist Martin DeLeon brings his powerful and emotional voice to the show. Join the many tango aficionados from around the world that will be attending this unique event. A specially selected music program of recorded classic tangos, milongas and valses will complement the live music between sets. A buffet of fine hors d'oeuvres will be served accompanied by fine Argentine wines, beer and drinks. The gala event starts at 9:00pm sharp. Admission is $38 in advance (prior to Oct. 10), $45 at the door (we strongly recommend you make reservations early, as we expect the event to be sold out). Formal Attire is requested: dress to impress. You are in Hollywood after all, and you may be rubbing shoulders with some famous or recognizable figures of show business that will be coming to partake in the tango experience. The Hollywood Athletic Club has ample parking and is a short drive from the 101 fwy. and easily accessible from all areas in Los Angeles. The Hollywood Athletic Club is located at 6525 W. Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA. Please send checks or money orders to: 'El Encuentro', 4214 Bakman Ave., Studio City, CA 91602.
